Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was the youngest and first woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student as well as daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982. She spent her early years shuttling from London and New Delhi. At the age of 13 she performed her first show at New Delhi. Then she moved to Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had an impressive recording and performing career. Her father has accompanied her in many performances for some time. She released her debut album in 1998. released Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Stage performances are a large part of her career. She's performed at many important venues across the world. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't only limited to the music industry. She also published Bapi the Heart of My Life, in 2002. It is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's career as a professional will only continue to grow and grow. It is possible to look at seeing lots of interesting things coming from her. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of traveling between London and Delhi in her early years. Then, she relocated to California to attend high school. At the age of nine, she began studying music under her father, who made her debut on the sitar four years later, at his birthday party in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain many valuable experiences when she accompanied her father during his worldwide tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals in addition to making recordings alongside George Harrison. It is the House of Commons Shield was given in her honor by the British Parliament for being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and the youngest winner of the award.
